Professor Alucard (有角教授) is a self-declared scientist researching fiends and demons in Nights of Azure. He came to Ruswal upon hearing of the upcoming awakening of the Nightlord, with the intention to witness the end of the world.

Professor Alucard joins the story in Chapter 2, where the player has to save both him and Lloyd from the attack of the Blueblood Cavalry Carousel. Once back at the Ende Hotel, Alucard can be found sitting in front of the bar.

The player can interact with him to listen to what he has to say, his lines changing as the story progresses.

Appearance[]

Professor Alucard has the appearance of a brown short-haired young man with brown eyes wearing a dark green open jacket with golden accents, dark green trousers held by a belt, and black shoes. He wears a monocle with a small cyan jewel hanging by a thin chain on his right eye. The jacket is on top of a gray green blouse on top of a white chemisette and a black necktie with white stripes. The jacket has two pockets at waist height and one pocket at chest height on the left side, which contains a white handkerchief and is tied to a golden pendulum by a thin chain. The pendulum is also held by a button on the blouse. The trousers have two pockets on the back.

Personality[]

Professor Alucard has poor social skills. He claims to hate humans but is fervently fascinated by demons, and is constantly trying to get Arnice as his "research assistant," in the hopes he could study her. He outright states that no one likes him and yet he still seems to be on decent terms with everyone there, except for Lloyd, with whom he constantly bickers. Despite the player being able to spot him around observing fiends, he is a coward, and will not hesitate to run away screaming at the slightest sign of danger.

Alucard has a minor split in his personality—he takes on the persona of a calm and collected intellectual with a thirst for knowledge at times, and that of a childish man, easily offended and always ready pick fights at others. He can change his attitude instantly and without notice, usually to comedic effect.

History[]

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. Read at your own discretion.

Professor Alucard came from outside of Ruswal to research fiends and witness the end of the world. He is in possession of the Lost Scripture, a book that's been burned by the Curia, as it contained details on how to seal the Nightlord. The book contains a picture of the Holy Mural, which shows how the First Saint was able to seal the Nightlord. Alucard and Arnice attempt to restore the Lost Scripture, but the book is stolen right before they can glean its knowledge.

Relationships[]

  • Arnice - Alucard is fascinated by Arnice's half-human half-demon state, and wants to research her. He later asks her to become his "research assistant" to research fiends together. He constantly asks Arnice to join him despite her firm refusals. He helps Arnice with her quest to stop the Nightlord, as she is capable of moving his own research forward.
  • Lilysse - Though the two scarcely interact, the man rightfully fears Lilysse's baked "goods." Professionally speaking, Alucard sees no use in studying the human Lilysse, and is much more interested in Arnice's demonic nature.
  • Simon - Simon acts as bartender to Professor Alucard. Sometimes Simon seems to indulge in mocking Alucard in similar ways that the other characters do.
  • Lloyd - Lloyd and Alucard are in a constant state of bickering. The professor finds Lloyd's attraction towards women disgusting, and doesn't hold back in calling him a "pervert" and "skirt-chasing blowhard". In turn, Lloyd finds Alucard's obsession to study Arnice's body creepy, and often calls him "Professor Pervert" because of it. He also considers Lloyd's business practices "thievery" and calls him a "thief" and "moneygrubber". They still both find themselves sitting at the bar in the hotel talking to each other every night.
  • Curia - Alucard is aware of the Curia's schemes and is interested in learning more. He is in possession of the Black Book, a book that was burned by the Curia itself as it contained knowledge on the Nightlord.

Trivia[]

  • Professor Alucard's name could be a reference to Capcom's platformer series, Castlevania, as he shares a name with the protagonist of Castlevania - Symphony of the Night.
